Modern Two-Story Residential Aluminum Window & Door Project

Project Details
This project has a relatively restrained residential facade, so the window proportions become an important part of the overall appearance. Rather than using one repeated window size, the design combines wider openings, narrow vertical windows and different operable sections across both floors.
The dark aluminum frames create a clear contrast against the light exterior walls and help visually organize the facade. Larger openings are used where access and daylight are more important, while smaller operable windows are placed in bedrooms and other private spaces.
Sliding windows and casement windows were selected according to the opening size and room function. This gives the project more flexibility than using one standard window type throughout the house, while the consistent frame finish keeps the facade from looking fragmented.
The garage door was also considered as part of the exterior composition at the client’s request. It is not a core AMJ product, but coordinating its appearance with the entrance and window frames helped the completed facade feel more unified.
Project Customization
The main customization challenge was not a single oversized opening or special-shaped window, but managing several different window proportions within one residential facade.
Sliding windows were used where horizontal operation made better use of the available wall space. Casement windows were selected for openings where a larger operable area and stronger natural ventilation were more suitable. Sliding doors were used for wider access openings.
Frame dimensions, opening methods and visual proportions were coordinated separately for each location, while the same dark aluminum finish helped the different systems read as one complete window and door package.

Opening Method Selection: Sliding and casement systems were matched to the way each room would actually be used.
